We will run a graphic design festival named After School Club at HfGHochschule Für Gestaltung Offenbach (University of the Arts). One week of workshops, talks and more. There will be a camp where you can sleep and the whole thing will be for free. It will happen on april 02nd till the 6th.

” In northern Italy you will find the shadow-village Viganella. From november till February, for 83 days long, the village is completely in the shadow of the surrounding mountains. Since december 2006 there is a mirror on top of the mountain, 870 meters above the village. This motorized mirror of 8 x 5 meters moves along with the sun and reflects the sunlight into the village. The idea of the mirror is initiated by the previous mayor of Viganella, Pierfranco Midali. Completed in cooperation with the architect Giacomo Bonzani and the engineer Emilio Barlocco. ”

“In each issue M. Lorenz and a Guest Artist are given 48 hours to experience a city, document it and create a visual diary without the use of computers. What this results to is the documentation of a 48 hour search for visual entertainment and the definition of the city visited.

On one hand The One Weekend Book Series reports of places and situations unmentioned in city-guides, on the other hand it gives an exhibitionistic view of the personal state of the reporters. In trying to figure out a city, in this case, they are mostly concerned with creating a book.”

Bikinis for top bananas

The male reaction on the ‘bikini’ was often described to be like an atomic bomb. In 1946 the Marshall Islands were used for the atomic bomb test, more commonly referred to as ‘Bikini Island Bomb Tests’. Since this skimpy swimsuit created about the same earth shattering reactions as the bomb, it was explosively named the Bikini.

The term ‘top banana’ goes back to burlesque where the showgirls in the finale formed what appeared to resemble a bunch of bananas. Of course the star was ussually on center top and was reffered to ‘the top banana’.
